Snaphanen.dk har funnet frem til en spansk studie som omfatter 12 EU-lands innstilling til henholdsvis hijab, jødisk kippa og kors i offentlige institusjoner.
Tar man EU i gjennomsnitt hva gjelder hijab, er det et flertall som er mot hijab. 52,4 prosent er mot, 26,4 prosent er for, mens 18,9 er verken for eller mot. Studien avdekker også de ”danske tilstander”: Danmark er det mest moderate landene hva gjelder spørsmålet. Kun 28,1 prosent er mot hijab, 56,6 prosent er for hijab, mens 12,2 er verken for eller mot. I motsatt ende finner man Bulgaria, der hele 84,3 prosent er mot hijab.

Just over half of Europeans surveyed opposed allowing Islamic headscarves in schools but backed the presence of crucifixes in classrooms, according to a Spanish study obtained by AFP Wednesday. A total 52.6 per cent of those polled in 12 European Union member states along were “opposed” or “totally opposed” to the use of the garment in schools, according to the study carried out by the research department of BBVA, Spain’s second-largest bank.
